Welcome to the Indiana
Chapter of the Audi Car Club |
|
We started with just a handful
of Audiphiles back in March 2002, but the group has grown steadily
since, becoming an officially-recognized Chapter of the National
Audi Car Club on July 25, 2002. During that time we have focused
on building the Chapter by word-of-mouth and internet recruitment.
The yahoo site - Click
Here! - we use for our members to exchange information and set
up group get-togethers has gone from strength to strength and we
encourage you to visit and join. There’s no fee (amazing in
this day and age!), but this site ensures we are all kept in the
local Audi loop. As of February 2006, there were over 200 members
e-mailing back and forth on Audi-related and social event topics. Join
us!
Many of our members are located in the Indianapolis
area, but there are also strong followings in Fort Wayne, Columbus
and West Lafayette, and these regions get together from time to
time. Our members come from all walks of life and, although we have
a love of anything Audi in common, interest levels range from daily
driving, to spirited country drives all the way to track drives
at our own and other Chapters’ driving schools. This fun group
is a mixed bag as far as age, sex, car type, interests, education,
profession and driving skill level. Members are as likely to drive
an Ur-quattro or V8-quattro as a ’98 A4, a TT, an Allroad,
S6, A8 or a 2006 S4, so there is a vast amount of experience with
different car types on tap for all to enjoy. Additionally, we have
a wealth of experience with local shops and dealerships, which we
are happy to share. |

Over the last several years we have had many outings
and events, organized by the local members, often drawing 25-50 people.
Those nearer to home have included social gatherings at local pubs
and restaurants, as well as new-model previews at local dealerships.
Further afield, there have been several Brown County drives, some
culminating in the now-famous “Audi’s in Da ‘Hood” parties,
or the “Monon Bell” Fall football game. Many of us have
taken laps together at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, or joined
the Audi car corrals held with the Formula One races. Our Chapter
has organized several pre-F1 race dinners, which drew fellow Audiphiles
from across North America, including our Canadian friends. We’ve
also staged two well-attended and highly-regarded driving schools
at nearby Putnam Park Road Course. We’re currently putting together
our third school for midsummer 2006 (see events), and hope to make
this an annual event. These schools offer an excellent way to enhance
your driving skills, get to know your car’s capabilities better,
as well as to meet other Audi fans and just plain have a great time!
Since we’ve been in existence, we’ve formed ties with
several other nearby Chapters and other German car clubs, and occasionally
join them for their events. |
